| | | Lumix TZ10 Having used mobile phone cameras for the last six years i have finally put my hand in my pocket and bought a compact and a gorilla pod mini tripod.
the first images are very promising they should get cleaner with time. hear are some examples of how my life has just changed for the better. Amanita crocea taken in 2006 with a 3.5 meg cybershot ericsson. taken today with my lumix no tweaks or out Cortinarius poss. purpurascens taken with an 8.1 meg ericsson cybershot last september taken today with the lumix.
overall i'm really impressed with it and look forward to refining my shots over the coming months and using the gps feature to tag images. |

I've been reading reviews and watching YouTube videos on the TZ10 and have all but convinced myself to buy one. Could you just confirm that the video function works ok at closest macro - would appreciate your help .
You've achieved some very pleasing results so far - lighting and colour balance is particularly good in your Orange Grisette pic. Be interested to hear how you get on with geotagging (btw, I understand that Panasonic have just announced a very recent GPS related firmware update for the TZ10).

| | | Re: Lumix TZ10 Thanks for the heads up and comments Bruce i'll take a look for the update.
I'm hoping to get some time to try some macro video at work this afternoon so I'll let you know, From what i can tell the gps is a bit battery greedy, but from a luddite perspective its not too complicated at all. you can turn it off and on when you like so if you know you are going to be in a certain area for a while you only need it on for a bit and then refer it back to that tag to save having it on constantly, less accurate but fine for general idea of location. I'm taking it to clumber this weekend so hopefully it will get a serious amount of use.

| | | Re: Lumix TZ10 Good shots Alge. Is the second one a Parasol? If so, then they are up there with the best flavoured mushrooms you can get.
Panasonic were a well thought of as TV and Hifi supplier dome years a go but they have really expanded in recent years.
I have to admit a bias as I have a FZ28; it is a excellent camera, as clearly the TZ10 is too.

| | | Re: Lumix TZ10 It was a good camera to have at clumber as there was so many things to capture.
Adjusting the focal position within the frame is a bit tricky but it dealt with dark conditions on a iso-80 setting admirably. I guess the advantage of photographing fungi is they dont move to much so slow shutter setting are viable.
I think as a study tool its going to be superb but having been blown away with what can be shot by the guys using Dslr's with sigma lenses, i'm never going to get my dream macro shots with out digging deeper into my pockets to a factor of x4
This winter snowboarding trip will be interesting when i try it on a higher iso rating.
Overall its exactly what i needed, and the gorilla pod worked well too.
P.s Tringa the second image down was Amanita crocea too. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
