Dave | Thanks for all the comments everyone.
Dave I use Legal and General. It's all tied in with our property insurance. I have £5000:00 of personal property insurance tied in which covers all my gear for accidental damage or loss/theft. It makes the property insurance slightly dearer but not much. |

Good job you were insured. Hoping that Sigma get a move one - don't they realise who they are dealing with and what an advert your pictures are for their lens?

| | | Re: Killed my Sigma 150mm Sorry to hear of your Sigma being "Killed In Action"!
Had a similar experience recently, set up the tripod carefully and levelled it - then put the lens + camera on. I then started to balance the setup on my Wimberley2 head and the lens (+ camera) fell off! PANIC! 600 f4is + 1d Mk4 - thank goodness I have still got good reactions!
The Arca type qr plate had not engaged properly. The moral is check and check again or alternatively lie your gear on the ground where it can't fall/topple.

I hope you get your lens back soon.

Dave | Normally the insurer would expect you to list the items, or as mine have them shown as a photography kit to a combined value. It's also worth checking to see how they cover for use away from home. Mine state that if the outfit is left in my car it must be out of sight and the car locked. Other insurers have different rules so it's worth checking. In my case I pay around £35 a year extra for the cover I feel comfortable with.

Mine is covered in the car in case of accident whilst travelling, but it's not covered if left unattended in the car out of site or not. Hence I generally only take what I'm likely to need for the day and always carry it all with me |
