| | | canon 60d Thought I would just pass this on.
Looks like canon will soon be releasing yet another new body.
A 60d complete with articulating screen. Canon Rumors
Cheers David
Just to add the images of the 60d came originally from a japanese site.

| | | Re: canon 60d Yes I have heard rumours of something happening soon. Just after the UK Vat rate increases I expect.
An articulating screen is something that would put me off though. It sounds like one more thing that I don't need and liable to go wrong.
I will wait to see what else they include, although if just includes more pointless gimmicks and video etc I will simply keep my trusty 40D. |

When you've got a back as good as mine, that feature is a really useful tool. |

| | | Re: canon 60d Well I took early retirement due to back trouble but I have never seen any use for a viewing screen except to sort out the chuckers from my files. At least for the sort of photography I do it has no other useful purpose.
I just have to gently easy myself into a suitable position to look through the eyepiece. Maybe an angled eyepiece might help but I hear varied reports on them.
I can't use a viewing screen for manual focus, it just isn't sharp enough; in fact I have to be careful about deleting images based on sharpness because the screen doesn't differentiate between sharp and slightly soft images. And that is if I can find a dark enough area to clearly view the screen; I can't use it at all in bright conditions.
My first digital camera was a Powershot G2 and I had to use the articulated screen for macro photography (only auto focus) and I hated it. Getting a used 10D seemed so much easier.
Now a slightly bigger screen would be helpful when sorting out the rejects. That tiny 10D screen was a struggle.
And just a few extra pixels would be beneficial when I have to heavily crop macro images. Not too many more though, say 12 mp or thereabouts.
A faster burst rate wouldn't benefit me either, I never use it on my current camera.
So perhaps I have just talked myself into keeping the 40D
But I will wait and see what happens before jumping to any firm decisions. |

| | | Re: canon 60d some of the rumours are saying 18mp and video optimised.
Looks like it will fit neatly between the 550d and 7d |

| | | Re: canon 60d I find the articulated screnes are very usefull,I wish they had stuck one on the 7D,after all you don`t have to use it,but it is a very usefull tool, for macro and plants, fungus ect.I am looking forward to see what comes with this camera, and hope it`s not over expensive. |

| | | Re: canon 60d Interesting, i was wondering when Canon would replace the 50D with a newer model. I wouldn't be surprised if it used the same 18mp sensor as the 550D, I'm not too sure about the tilt lcd screen though. |

| | | Re: canon 60d Canon EOS 60D Hands-on Preview: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review Canon EOS 60D DSLR announced and previewed: Digital Photography Review
There's the full specs now it's been announced.
It's got the same 18mp sensor from the 550D and 7D, the 9 point AF system from the 50D, and a tilt 3.0" 1020k res LCD, wireless speedlite system like in the 7D, 1080p HD video capture, in camera RAW processing (personally, I can't see much point in that). The body has been downgraded to plastic instead of magnesium alloy, and it has lost two of the custom modes on the dial, only having one now. Cont. shooting speed is also down to 5.3fps from the 6.3 of the 50D (although the 50D on reached 6.3 at the fastest shutter speed settings).
It's also switched from CF cards to SD cards. (which to me begs the question: why not have a slot for both? I'd be a bit disgruntled if I was moving up from a 40/50D and had to buy a whole new set of memory)
So it's sitting slap bang between the 550D and the 7D.

I've been waiting to see what the 60D would offer, but at near enough the same price as the 7D (well about £100 less, which will easily get eaten up buying replacement cards if you currently use CFs) I can't see this makes sense as an upgrade from a 40D or 50D unless you're desperate for the articulated screen. The reduction in custom settings is a particularly poor move. |

| | | Re: canon 60d I had an email from W......E.....s giving details of a preview of the 60D and some new lenses from Canon. The lens' specs were awesome as were the prices.
E mail deleted.
