| | | Re: canon 60d Words:
I think canon cameras tend to drop a couple of hundred pounds in just a few months after being released.
I've seen the new lens specs too.
A 300mm f/2.8 II, 400mm f/2.8 II, a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L series, 8-15mm fisheye and new 1.4 and 2x converters are being released.
The price of the new 400 2.8 goes into 5 figures!
Also new 500 and 600 f/4s are in development.

| | | Re: canon 60d First thoughts from the photography forum that I use, is that they aren't impressed.
It possibly marks the end of the previous XXD range with the 50D and the new model should really be called the 600D.
On that forum (Cambridge in Colour) the general feeling seems to be that it will just boost the secondhand value of a 40/50D and if you want something better than the XXXD range but don't want the 7D you might as well go the full distance and get a full frame model.
But they can be a bit wary of anything new so I will wait to see what the 'hands on' testers report. |

| Canon pricing policy in the UK is to set a high recommended price so that retailers can offer large discounts. The new 60D is priced at exactly the same level as the 50D was introduced at, so I expect that after a few weeks it will fall to a point between the 550D and the 7D.
Meanwhile, the 50D is a great buy!
