Not sure if the Nissin does that it's not a function I use that often but a nice addition to the arsenal . | The latest Sigma flashes have this feature. I use a Sigma 530 DG Super. It'll act either as a remote slave or master gun.Just about the only thing it doesn't do that the Canon ones do is allow the camera to alter the flash settings. Not that the lack of this has ever been much of a problem. |

I'm not going to have annny problem using this lens .
(I've done careful selective noise reduction, this isn't how the ISO 1000 shot came off the camera (but it wasn't that much worse )) | It is a lovely shot Adam.
Just one small query - why such a fast shutter speed? You should be able to use a 150mm handheld at 1/200th of a second and this would have allowed you to drop the ISO to 400 while keeping the same aperture.
Whenever I use mine without flash I tend to switch to shutter priority and set it to 1/200th then leave the camera to give me the best aperture it can. If its best is not good enough then I'll consider upping the ISO although I'm more likely to try and find something to lean on so I can drop the shutter speed first. This is about the only circumstance in which I use shutter priority.

I'm also going to look into getting a monopod some time as well, to complement my tripod and make it easier to hold a camera + flash set up steady. | I warned you buying an SLR is a slippery (+ expensive) slope!
Great first pic btw
As for the 1:1 loss of shutter speed, it was something I had noticed but thought I was imagining! |

| | | Re: Light loss at 1:1 (sig 150mm) The sun came out a bit more as I took that photo, and I wasn't fast enough changing the ISO to react instantly. When I did then drop then ISO, the wind picked up so I didn't get any shots at lower ISO. |

Changing ISO is a lot easier than on the fuji, I just haven't got used to it yet. |

| | | Re: Light loss at 1:1 (sig 150mm) I regularly use an ISO of between 400 & 800 with my 150 + 40D, using a Sigma530 DG Super flash for fill in.
These last few weeks I've been using manual settings; usually 200/250 shutter speed & up to F/16-ish aperture (depends on conditions for each shot, of course). | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
