| | | Re: Filter or not I previously used filters on all my lenses when doing general and social photography, but i found a noticeable improvement in image sharpness when removing the protective filter.More so with wildlife photography. So, i don`t bother with any now.If you are carefull with your equipment then i think it`s not worth attaching a filter.Just one thing though,if you do use filters, i would have a set of filter removers handy.I had a U.V Filter on my 300 AFS F.4 and the filter thread tightened and boy what fun I had trying to get it off.Just a word of warning, do not over tighten the filter when fitting.

| | | Re: Filter or not I'm a no filter person and don't always use a lens hood. I used to have a filter on all my lenses for the Yashica/Contax but since going digital I stopped. Never had any problems but think this is personal choice and you will find many discussions such as this on all the photo forums.
One of the reasons I stopped using protection filters was I use the Cokin P system and didn't want the messing about with them.
