| | | looking for a new lens hello, i've recently upgraded my camera from a canon 350D to the 40D. i've had it a week and although i haven't properly had the chance to utilise it, so far i'm very happy.
i've got a bit of money now, so am looking to get a new lens. i've currently got the canon 18-55mm standard lens, as well as a Tamron 55-200mm F4.5-5.6.
I was looking at getting a 75-300mm possibly and i'm only looking to spend about 200 pounds. i had a look at the canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM Lens but after reading a couple of reviews i'm not sure whether its worth getting one.
can anyone make any suggestions of lens to get for around 200 pounds which will either be a stronger zoom than i've already got, or simply a bit better quality. its shame i don't have a bit more money so i could properly upgrade, but one step at a time eh?
thanks folks

| | | Re: looking for a new lens i've had a further look about and actually seen a few threads on this topic! having researched it a bit last night and read aa couple of reviews i might well go for the Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro, as it seems to be of better quality and has recieved better reviews.
opinions?

| | | Re: looking for a new lens Yeah, that sigma was my first lens and I really liked it Considering the price of it you really can't go far wrong, and it's got the 'macro' setting as well which is nice if you're wanting to shoot small things! You might find it a wee bit slow for things like birds in flight, or catching fast action but you can always upgrade later if you want to. I've got a few shots I took with it in my flickr stream if you want a look... They're nothing mega, but it might give you an idea: LINK
Definitely a good lens, I would recommend it! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
