| | | Re: Camera recommendation? Glad you have what you are happy with Cordy. I have the earlier model - the FZ28 - and for me it is brilliant. Small enough to carry easily, versatile to do way more than a compact. I've had mine for about a year and I'm still learning.
If you don't have any editing software already I suggest you have a look at some of the free ones, eg Photoscape, GIMP.
I'd also recommend stephentrainor.com: tools. It is excellent if you ever want do some landscape photos as it tells you where the sun will rise and set.
Lets see some of your pics soon.

| | | Re: Camera recommendation? I began wildlife photography in 1969. At that time no-one would have believed what wonderful photos could be achieved with such inexpensive equipment and so easily as we can nowadays.
I have always taken pride in achieving the pictures that satisfied me as inexpensively as possible. Always believing that any idiot can take reasonable pictures with an expensive camera but it is a real challenge to take superb photos with an inexpensive one. However there is one thing that has remained true since the first camera obscura was used. A camera is only as good as its lens and the photographer who is pointing it.
Always take the quality of the lens as first maxim and you wont go far wrong

Jim | I take your point but in my experience there are a sometimes a couple of drawbacks.
(a) manuals are unintelligible - they might as well be in Japanese. Or perhaps I'm not a good reader - this applies to cameras/instructions I've had from a company beginning with C
(b) there are no manuals but a massive computer file which is largely advertising - I think of a company beginning with P - although their bread machines are great and i would recommend them.
My own inclination (it's a long time since I've done it) would be to see what Nikon does and costs and then see how other products compare. You need to have a level for comparison and I've never seen problems (including servicing - can be a serious matter) with N. As I say, it's a long time since I had a Nikon but that is a good starting point: if you can get the same thing cheaper but with apparently similar specs, then go for it! |

Dave | Hiya,
It came with 'Silkypix'.
Haven't got around to trying it out yet, looking forward to it though!
I adore taking sunrise & sunset pics. Got a lovely sky tonight!
