| | | GPS Cameras We are considering buying a GPS enabled camera to help with audits of trees, forest 'furniture' etc. The idea would be to take a picture and then to download the file, with GPS location onto our GIS system - we use Map Info. The question is - how easy is it/is it possible to do this without additional software? We also use a Trimble GPS but the camera system that links to this is very expensive. We were looking at a basic camera as the image quality is not a big issue. Any thoughts or experience? |

| | | Re: GPS Cameras There is software to do this without the need to use a GPS enabled camera. I think all you need to do is to ensure the clock on the camera is correctly set and to troll around your location taking images with your GPS on. When you get back and download the images, the software 'marries' the GPS locations to the correct images, based on the times taken.
This is the program I'm thinking of, but there may be others, maybe free: RoboGEO Online Documentation

Here's another thing which is quite fun for tagging photos (including location info). Microsoft Pro Photo Tools
