| | | Problem reading UDMA cards. I bought a fast UDMA card to go with my 7D. Initially my computer could read it in my card reader, until I formatted it in camera. After that my computer simply doesn't "see" the card at all.
I thought maybe my card reader was too old to work with the UDMA card.
It's no big deal as I can easily download the images direct from the camera which works perfectly.
I've now read many posts on the web with users with similar issues, with many different makes of cards, so it's something in this latest spec of cards that is causing the issue. I imagine if I'd left the format as supplied with the card it would still be OK, although that's just guess work!
Just thought I'd raise the issue here just in case anyone else has or is considering getting a UDMA card.
Of course if anyone knows of an easy fix so I can carry one using my card reader, so much the better. |

| | | Re: Problem reading UDMA cards. Well I don't know of a fix for this Graham. I have formatted my UDMA card in camera many times as I do all my cards and my computer and card reader never has any problems in seeing it. |

| | | Re: Problem reading UDMA cards. It's like many problems you see on the net, they seem to effect just a small number of users.
As I said, it's no big deal. So long as the card works well in the camera, which it does, I can easily download them direct from the camera.
I've seen a few who've mentioned the 7D with problems reading/writing to various cards but again just a few needles in the haystack. |

| | | Re: Problem reading UDMA cards. The problem I was having with this card turned out to be a computer problem, not the card.
It's now sorted and works fine either directly from the camera or card reader. |

| | | Re: Problem reading UDMA cards. Glad your problem is solved but have a look at the Lexar UDMA sd & and cf card reader. They are about £20 / £25 quid and download at 20 to 30 mb per second on my cheap computers. Means I don't have time to make and drink a cuppa whilst downloading! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
