| | | 32GB SDHC - Can anyone suggest ? Hi, I am looking for a 32GB SDHC. I am currently using a 16GB SanDisk VideoHD Class 6 since April this year. I was using a Transcend SDHC 16GB Class 6 in the past but after a year usage it became "Card Error". Can anyone suggest me a good 32GB SDHC or 16GB SDHC please?
Best wishes

| | | Re: 32GB SDHC - Can anyone suggest ? Recently bought 2 x 8gb class 6 (High?) speed sdhc cards for my Canon 1d mk4 & friends 1d mk3. I have deliberately not mentioned the name so there is no comeback! On both cameras they appear to be Class 0.6 rather than 6! The Sandisk Extreme iii work very well on his 1d3 (faster than Extreme 4 cf!) and quite well on mine. The later Sandisk Extreme 30mps (Class 10) version is apparently better. Note the class only tells you the theoretical speed, in my (non scientific) testing my unmentionable class 6 card appears to load at about 3 - 5 mps not approx 15 like it should. Generally Sandisk and Lexar do what they say on the box! Also check out what speed tor camera will write at.
Hope this helps. |

Hi John, Thank you for your information. I finally bought a SanDisk Extreme 16GB Class 10 (up to 30MB/s) 3 weeks ago (you are right, it's not the speed you can expect as it says on the box). Last week when I was transferring the photos (approx. 2,900 photos) to my computer using a card reader, after transferring about 900 photos an "Card Error" came up and asked to format the card, then couldn't read any more. At the end I still need to format the card !!!
May I ask you which way is better to transfer photos to computer :
1. directly from camera to computer via cable, or
2. using card reader.
Best wishes

| | | Re: 32GB SDHC - Can anyone suggest ? I never download from the camera as I'm over 50 and want it done before my pension is due! I use the Lexar UDMA card reader (£20 to £25) which reads SDHC and CF. My faster CF cards download at upto 30mps and SDHC at 10 to 12mbps, note I don't have a "Fast" SDHC card so others may be faster.
Hope this helps |

If you had 7+ GB of pics spread over 2x 4GB cards and then one of the cards then fails, you still have some pictures left. I would not like to fill a 32 gig card up with images only to find out its corrupted
I carry 6 x 4GB Cards, the only time i would consider larger is if i am doing video which i don't do at the moment.

Thanks for the advice.

There's nothing wrong with plod along photography, it's far better to take one or two frames and get it right rather than bang off a hundred and hpoe for the best! Another point is that if you don't need speed you can get high quality images MUCH from cheaper camera look at the price of a used Canon 5d os DS MKii.
Unfortunately for me I like to do both and as wildlife is my main interest I have also spent ridiculous amounts of money on silly (backbreaking!) lenses! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
