With thanks. | I find the top LCD panel is more vunerable but have no solution for this one at present, I have not had a problem with the rear screen

I tried to remove mine and it ended up shattering and damaging the screen, so the thing intended to protect it actually caused the damage itself!
I ended up having a new screen fitted, it wasn't as expensive as I feared.
It put me off those types of screen protection, I now use one of the cheaper thin flexible stick on types which has proven to be very easily marked. Still better than marking the rear screen. |

But as you say it's much better than having the rear screen damaged and a replacement is under a tenner. And even with a scrathed protector you can still check the histogram or the blinkies and you can still see if you got the bird before it flew or if you have a lovely shot of an empty branch.

Dave P. | No such luck with Canon. My new rear backplate cost me £70. The parts were £24, the rest labour. That was a lot less than I feared, but still an expensive mistake. |

| | | re: Screen Protectors Sorry Graham, my last post was very badly worded. It's the plastic protector that's under a tenner, I don't know how much a replacement screen would be. At least as much as the Canon one I would guess.

| | | re: Screen Protectors One thing I did try is Camera Armor (their spelling not mine) and it does increase the bulk of the camera slightly but it definitely gives oodles of protection. It is essentially a rubber suit for the body with a polycarbonate plate to protect the screen.
The reason I stopped using it is for some of my macro work I use a hot-shoe mounted flash and the little rubber cover for the flash shoe flips up and makes it difficult to get your eye really close the the viewfinder.

Dave P. | I did understand you Dave, it was me moaning that Canon doesn't have an equivalent cover. If it had, I wouldn't have had to buy a screen protector, it wouldn't have shattered and I wouldn't be over £70 out of pocket! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
