| | | canon 28 - 135 lens Hi all.
Currently I use the basic 18 - 55mm non is kit lens for general photos and landscapes. I have now been offered a canon 28 - 135mm is lens. Good quality and from a reliable source so will be 100% as new. Has anyone on here used it. I know its not an L series lens but is it a good lens. Would it be a good replacement for my standard kit lens. Any info to help me decide please.

| | | Re: canon 28 - 135 lens I've got one and I think it's a cracking lens. Not as sharp as my 100 macro or 100 - 400 L but I've had some great images from it and it blows the kit lens into a cocked hat.

I also have this lens, and although it is not a pro lens. I have had some very good photos using it. |

| | | Re: canon 28 - 135 lens Yes I have one and agree with the previous replies.
I have recently purchased a Canon 24-105 as an upgrade but kept the 28-135 as a 'rough use' spare lens.
In side by side trials, I found that the 28-135 was actually a fraction sharper at the centre but the 24-105 held it's sharpness better towards the edges. It copes a little better with extremes of the contrast range and is a stronger build; but at twice the price, so it should!
The 28-135 is a plastic construction, but well built all the same.
All in all, a useful lens size at a realistic price.
