| | | Waterproofing a camera Last week I was on holiday and missed two days of photography due to snowfall. Apart from a fully enclosed waterproof bag, does anyone have other ideas?

| | | Re: Waterproofing a camera Optech do a 'plastic bag' type cover called a rainsleeve that is pretty good in horrible weather, pretty cheap as well (2 for just over a fiver).
I would recomend a lens hood as this helps in some way keeping the front element clear. Also a protective filter of some sort is useful as if the lens does get absolutely covered or misted up you can take it off.
And the final consideration is when you move from a cold environment to a warm one and vice versa. It is best not to take the camera out of it's bag until it has aclimatised otherwise it will be prone to getting condensation.

| | | Re: Waterproofing a camera Yep, I've used the Optech rainsleeves and they are quite good. But just as effective and even cheaper is an old supermarket carrier bag with a couple of holes cut in it - one for the lens (with a rubber band to keep it in place) and one for the viewfinder.
