There is one exception to this rule that wasn't mentioned in that interesting thread, and that's the effect with macro primes.
I find my 150mm macro lens works very well with a 1.4X TC, so much so that I rarely take the TC off it.
As for using it with my Bigma, not a chance, unless the light is absolutely perfect and the subject very obliging. In other words it's not going to happen.
