| | | Expensive kit doesn't buy you good photo's, but... ... it does help
It's always been a little bugbear of mine, when someone sees a photo you worked particularly hard to get and you hear, "that's wonderful, you must have a really expensive camera", implying that anyone with enough cash could do the same.
Well, after what seems to me like a seriously unhealthy period of gear lust, I’ve got myself a Nikon 200-400mm f/4. I managed an hour or so in the back garden today, I’ve been so desperate to give it a go, and think I might have to eat my words.
This lens is simply astounding
Really, I think pretty much anyone with a bit of basic camera knowledge could get great shots with it. The number of shots I’ve reluctantly sent to the recycle bin over the last couple of years because they just didn’t have the quality to satisfy. I seriously think there's going to be a dramatic increase in the number of keepers in future. I’m going to need more hard disks… |

A lovely sharp, detailed image.
Expensive kit doesn't buy you good photo's but it certainly does help, especially when it involves glass!

I'll also be moving on my Sigma 150-500mm, which will hopefully raise £500 or so. |
