| | | I think my sensor needs cleaning Hello
Can someone please confirm the marks on the first pic are due to my sensor needing cleaning. The black marks only really show at lower shutter speeds/ higher f number
Pic 1 F25 Shutter speed 1/160
Pic 2 F7.1 Shutter speed 1/320 (The black mark in this pic is a lapwing!)
If so has anyone used Harrisons in Sheffield for this service?
Cheers

Definitely looks like sensor dust to me, and quite a lot of it. It always becomes much more noticeable with higher f numbers.
Can't advise on Harrisons I'm afraid, as I'm a long way from Sheffield and always clean my own sensor anyway. You should be fine with any reputable camera shop, plus they will have insurance if anything does go wrong.
Good luck!

| | | Re: I think my sensor needs cleaning Yep, that's a dirty sensor screen.
Have a go at cleaning it yourself. I always have, I've lost count of the number of times I've done mine. It's not difficult and so long as you use the right equipment it's pretty foolproof. You'd have to be a real clumsy so and so to do any damage.
I use the wet system using pads and eclipse fluid. Just make sure you get the correct fluid to suite your camera make and model and the right sized pads and away you go. |

| | | Re: I think my sensor needs cleaning I use a Delkin Digital Duster kit which includes a mini vacuum cleaner as well as wet wipes so you can have a really good clean around. But there are several good cleaning kits available. |

It should be self explanatory, but in essence, with a large aperture the spot is there but large and diffuse, and with a small aperture small and dense: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/james.ford60/dust.jpg
