| | | Ringflash for canon Hello all
I have a relatively cheap, Marumi ringflash for my canon, but it's not the most robust piece of equipment ever created and its stopped worked. I was thinking of buying one of the products below:
Sigma EM-140 DG Macro Ring Flash
Canon MR-14EX Macro Ring Lite Flash
Does anyone have experience of these and are there any differences in performance between the two, because there's quite a big price difference and I was wondering if this is more to do with the branding?
Any insights greatly appreciated.

| | | Re: Ringflash for canon I've got the sigma and love it. Performance wise it's supposed to be a match for the Canon but I've never used the Canon so can't comment. When I compared the two side by side in Park cameras the Canon seemed a little better constructed but I've given my sigma fairly heavy use with no problems.
A big plus with the sigma is the fitting method. The Canon fits onto the bayonet mount on the lens so is only suitable for canon lenses. The sigma has an adaptor that screws onto the filter thread, so it can be used with most lenses with the correct adaptor.

Mike | You can get similar adapters for the Canon as well - I use the twin flash big brother (Canon MT-24 EX Macro Twin Lite) of the Canon MR-14EX Macrolite which uses the same attachment system on my Sigma 150mm macro via an adapter that screws into the filter thread. They come in 52mm, 58mm, 67mm and 72mm sizes I believe.
