Considering how many people feel / felt that the 7d is borderline on what you can push into a camera and still retain image quality, it'll be interesting to see what the reviews say of the 550d and whether it manages to be good enough to warrant the step up from the 400 or 500... |

| | | Re: Another new Canon. I was just about to post the same news here.I had a read up on it,at dpreview.com.What I wondered the most about it,is weather it was equipped with the same sensor as the 7D,offering the better high iso performance, from what I read it has it`s own new sensor, which is " simular " to the 7D`s but not the same.It also appears to not have the 19 point AF system only 9 point.I think personally I will keep saving for the 7D,even if it is nearly twice as much money.Though I look forward to see how it performs at high iso, that is the biggest gripe I have with my 400D,and the main reason I would like to upgrade. |

| | | Re: Another new Canon. I just got the 7D for £1299 and althoguh I've not been out properly with it yet, it looks like a hell of a camera. £800 is a lot of money for a X00d-type camera in my opinion... I've got the 400d which I still use underwater, which is fine, but I wouldn't go back to that range again after having the 40d and now the 7d... Maybe it's just me, but considering we're talking about almost £1000 of gear I'd be inclined to spend a little extra and get the better-range model. |

| | | Re: Another new Canon. Remember that just a few short months ago, on release, the 7D cost £1700. So the price of the 550D may well fall, making a larger price difference. |

| | | Re: Another new Canon. Are X00d-range not meant to be entry range cameras? Cos £800 is a lot for an entry level camera! Mind you specs don't look particularly entry level either! |
