| | | Re: got my first dslr Hi Scamps. As Mike says, they are a little soft, but hey....still cracking images, especially for a first attempt. Yes - what settings did you use? Too large an apeture setting and too slow a shutter speed, and it's easy to get a little blur. We've all done that and we'll all do it again Well done again Scamps - Wizzo

| | | Re: got my first dslr One other suggestion that can cause auto focus problems is that your camera doesn't know what you intend to be the main subject so it focuses on what it thinks is the best target; which can be a twig in the background instead of the intended subject. This is made worse by using multi focus points, so I set my camera to just use the centre focus point which I can aim directly at the intended target.
Manual focusing often produces better results; but my subjects usually run around faster than I can actually manually focus.
If you need any advice on editing, such as using Curves or Unsharp Mask, just ask.
You may find these tutorials useful http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials.htm they do go from beginner to advanced rather quickly but there is a lot of good advice there.

| | | Re: got my first dslr i always have my camera on centre point focus. You can always the move the frame with the shutter still half depressed to keep that focus if you don't want the focus subject in the direct centre of the shot. works for me. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
