| | | Re: Canon XL users Very pleased with the 1.6x converter. Possibly slight softening if image, but not a problem.
I've used Nikon fit lenses up to 300mm f2.8 and been happy with the results. My 70-200 f2.8 is a good combination.
The main points to watch are:
1) Don't know about the Canon adapter, but with the Can/Nik adapter I lose auto focus/zoom and built in ND filters. Not really a problem as I shoot in manual focus anyway.
2) The magnification factor is approx. 7x in 16:9 and 9x in 4:3, so a 300mm lens becomes a 2100mm or 2700mm. Not too bad with a deer, but trying to find a small bird in a tree with such a narrow field of view can be very difficult! You also need a very sturdy tripod with a good fluid head on it, as any movement is greatly magnified. |  | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
