The 1D is also built like a tank and the build quality is excellent. The down side
is its only 1.3 crop factor against 1.6 and only 8 Mega Pixels against 18 Mega Pixel's, so the 7D might give more reach??? Plus you have the option of HD video with the 7D. This Mega pixel thing has me confused as on static test objects The 1D producers perhaps the best un cropped image

Colin does the difference in pixel count between the 7D & 1D show when you crop your images? Which camera handles high ISO best?
It's interesting to note that you seem to be leaning more towards 1D M2 N despite the rave reviews on the 7D. |

I think the 1.3 crop is a good compromise between full frame and 1.6 especially if you do other types of photography such as landscape or motor sports.
One thing I will do is sell my 50D to get the 7D.

Dai | At the Canon service centre, I had a view problems when I brought the 1D MII N To cut a Long story short it required a new shutter box. Which was not expensive to replace. They told me the 1D MKII N was and still is the best camera, Canon have ever produced. When I brought up the lack of pixels compared to recent models, they replied " theres pixels and pixels "

Colin | Yep, why do you need more than 8.2 MP anyhow? Who prints nowadays?
