Jim | I guess all nature photgraphers need to throw away their DSLRS!!!....lol |

| | | Re: Digital SLR Wildlife Camera And Lens?? This seems to be more about managing expectations. I really liked what was said by someone in another thread, these big lenses dont bring the far close, they bring the close closer.
I dont remember which camera I took this with but it would be with the equivalent of about 100mm lens I suppose. |

| | | Re: Digital SLR Wildlife Camera And Lens?? I'm with Jim that I want good DoF to get the whole subject in focus but I'm with CityDweller in wanting shallow DoF to throw the background right out of focus. Can't get both without cheating in post-processing!

Reminds me of my experience with a 1.4x TC. When I first bought it I only ever used it when the subject was out of reach at the 400mm end of my zoom. The results were rubbish and got binned and eventually I stopped using the TC. Then one day I used it on subjects that were close enough at 400mm but I just wanted to bring them a little closer still. Results were pretty good. Slight loss of IQ as you'd expect with one of the lower priced TCs but not bad.
