| | | Advice on New Monitor Please Techie son about to build me a new fast desktop.
Photography a major interest of mine and he wants to know whether
a high end TN Monitor is nowadays good enough for photoshop
or is an IPS really the goal and what is best value for money.
I don't game, so refresh rate not crucial.
Also what size is maximum comfortable 22 ---> 28 ins?
Any particular models recommended or advised against?

| | | Re: Advice on New Monitor Please I don't understand the technical acronyms either but I would say that if you are wanting to do any serious photo editing get a decent monitor.
The TN is fine for general office work but I would advise something which is able to accurately show real sRGB colours.
Are you getting widescreen or the more traditional 5 x 4 (approx) ratio? Widescreen needs to be a bit bigger to achieve a good screen height. I'm using a cheap widescreen on an old computer for internet use and circles become ovals.
For my photo editing computer I have a 20 ins Iiyama Pro Lite H511S which, while not cheap, is one of the better value semi pro monitors. And being in the older size ratio it is sufficient for my editing needs | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
