| | | Playing with a 10X macro setup I've just been playing with a 10X microscope obective mounted on my 40D via a body cap on 75mm of ext tubes. Much to my amazement it seems to work ok. DOF is non existent
#1 single shot of a springtail, #2 a 10 shot focus stack of a globular springtail.
#3 the camera setup - the snoot is coming down from a 430Ex flashgun.
The shots were taken outside on hard surfaces where I could rest the edge of the ext tubes on the same surface as the bug, tilt the camera up and slide if forward (very carefully) to focus. Only just started playing with this.

Ooh, very good! The Dicyrtomina sp. is pretty impressive. Is it just me, or does it have a greater DoF than the black elongate one?
Take care, Jason |

Would be interesting to see how a 5X objective came out against an MPE-65 lens (unfortunately I don't have a 5X objective).
Jason - you didn't read the commentary - the last one was a 10 shot focus stack

Not actually measured the focus distance but guess it's around 4mm in front of the lens.
