| | | Repair of Canon Equipment Hi,
On a trip to Teifi Marshes the other day, I carelessly dropped my Canon 40D, and now the screen on the back of the camera has gone blank, and needs repairing.
As I understand it, my four options for UK repair are: A.J.Johnstone & Company Limited of Glasgow, Colchester Camera Repair Services, H. Lehmann Limited, and Canon (UK) based in Hertfordshire.
I've tried Lehman's before and had mixed results, so when I had a focusing problem with my 40D, I tried CCR. Camera came back with the same problem it went with, and a note saying there was nothing wrong with it! Sent it back to them, and it came back still not repaired properly. So have ruled CCR out!
Has anyone tried A.J. Johnstone or Canon UK? I've heard Canon UK take rather a long time, and I need my 40D back ASAP, as it's the only working DSLR I've got at present.
Any advice, or experiences with various Canon repair services, would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Jeremy. |

Bad luck - google fixation - their web site is helpful.

| | | Re: Repair of Canon Equipment I've used Lehmanns a couple of times and have been satisified with the service.
A friend used Canon UK to get the autofocus fixed on his 400mm DO lens at the start of last spring. They said it would be a couple of weeks. They kept it for 4 months! He was none to pleased to be without his main lens for the whole of the spring.
I doubt if any of the service centres are perfect but I'd avoid Canon UK if at all possible. |

| | | Re: Repair of Canon Equipment Funny, Fixation wasn't mentioned on the Canon website as an authorised repairer, although I've heard a few recommendations for them, so might give them a try.
Thanks for the replies,

| | | Re: Repair of Canon Equipment I used Canon (Uk) recently and they managed to fix the problem which developed just 1 week before the years guarantee ran out. I think it took nearly 2 weeks to send it, fix it and get it back. I would not hesitate in using them again. |

| | | Re: Repair of Canon Equipment I use Fixation too, mainly because they're up in Kennington and I can get there and back (just) in my lunch break. They repaired an 18-70 kit lens for me a couple of years ago, they've just serviced my 80-400 about a month ago and they also have my D300 in at the moment for a replacement shutter. They did that job in 4 days but I can't pick it up yet as I still haven't received the warranty pack from Homeserve.
