| | | Re: Help needed with DSLR upgrade On the subject of converters. I was at a photographic show last Sunday. I talked with tech guys and sales people from all of the major camera makers and they all seemed to agree on one thing. 1.4x are fine. 1.7x is the optimum converter and using 2x converters, is when you really start to notice image degredation and loss of resolution. Any thoughts guys? Wizz |

@Wizzo - I tried a x2 Nikon TC once, and really did noticeably degrade the picture quality. On the other hand, the 1.4 TCs I've tried (both Nikon and Sigma) have been pretty good. Never tried a 1.7 though.

I did not think that my bargain Sigma 100-300 F4 would arrive, but 2 days ago it did, so I'm now trying to resist the temptation to mate it to a D90 too!
