| | | Re: Full frame or APS? No Jim not a mistake (perhaps not well written) but a suggestion that a lens on combined lens/sensor module might not be the best in the world and wouldn't last as long as a good Nikon/Canon/Olympus to name just three. I'd certainly agree that good lenses are well worth keeping hold of and updating bodies around them if necessary.

The cameras I'm looking at is the Nikon D300s or D700. | .
Wizzo, I use the D700 for my wildlife shots and a D200 as backup. As Dave says, the images at High ISO on the D700 are superb and i agree wholeheartedly as my results have been excellent. Most of my work just recently has been at ISO800/1000. due to the poor weather in my part of the world I initially purchased the D700 as i was doing a fair bit of wedding work but i don`t do so much of that these days.I now like to relax !! .The D200 is fine up to ISO 800 but after that i have found the noise can be a problem. As i had the D700 , i decided to try it for my wildlife shots and i am very happy with the results i have gained, teamed with a 300AFS 2.8 + 1.7 Converter. However i must admit, if i had initially not concentrated on wedding / social photography and more on wildlife/bird imaging, i would have purchased the D300 instead of the D700. obviously i am not going to change now....well,not having already forked out on a D700. In my case with the results i am getting, the full frame is working for me.

| | | Re: Full frame or APS? Thanks Jon and everyone else. I've more or less decided on the D700 with a quality wide zoom. I'll probably go for the 150-500 Sigm too, for the bird shots. Oh to win the lottery and see these problems disappear! Wizzo | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
