| | | Sigma 2x Tele Converter Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with Sigma 2x tele converters? or converters of other makes?
if so would you recommend using them? what are the pro's and cons? |

| | | Re: Sigma 2x Tele Converter I plumped for the 1.4 Kenko Pro ( apparently it does not foul the rear element of some long lenses) 2X converters take an extra stop of light which can make some autofocus systems skittish

| | | Re: Sigma 2x Tele Converter I have a 1.4 X TC and 2.0 TC both Canon and both work well " if the lens" is
up to the Job. I think much depends on the lens if you are to get satisfactory
results with converters. See if you can loan one and try it with the lens or lenses you have.

| | | Re: Sigma 2x Tele Converter I've just bought a 2nd-hand Sigma 2x converter to use with my Canon 500mm lens. I thought long and hard about getting one because I thought the image quality would suffer badly but I was quite wrong.
You will lose autofucus with a lot of bodies though.
I've been really pleased with the results so far. This test shot was taken at 1/200s, ISO 1000 on a very dull day... Mallard - Wild About Britain Pics

| | | Re: Sigma 2x Tele Converter 2 X TC + 300mm 100% crop. At last the 1d 2N seems to work, its been back and forward to the service centre for the last several months. This is a test shot I took while trying it out.

| | | Re: Sigma 2x Tele Converter I use a Sigma EX 1.4 TC with a Sigma EX 100-300mm f4 lens on a Canon 40D and find it to be an excellent combination. AF is maintained throughout.

| | | Re: Sigma 2x Tele Converter I've used both a sigma 1.4 and the 2 and both provide less than perfect results with my 120-400mm sigma lens I would describe it at soft and softer never really happy with what it produces. Although it is manual focus so could be me I suppose but as sharp as I think I have it it always seems soft.
The 1.4 on the sigma 70-210 f2.8 on the other hand is an excellent combination and works well. |

John D Zenfolio | John D's Wild World | I also have this combination and I'm very pleased with the results it gives me.
I used to own a Sigma 150-500mm, and did try it with the 1.4 TC - I wouldn't really bother to be honest! The AF didn't work properly (couldn't get a lock most of the time) and the images were really soft. With a x2 TC it would be even worse!
