| | | Re: sigma 105 macro and teleconverter I don't see why not. I use a Kenko 1.4 on my Sigma 150mm Macro. The pins are taped though. |

| | | Re: sigma 105 macro and teleconverter It should be OK in good light but any converter will reduce image quality to some extent. You may have to manual focus, but most macro photographers prefer to do this anyway.
Check that the converter will physically fit but a Sigma converter should be OK. I sometimes use my Canon converter with my Sigma 180 macro by inserting a 12mm extension tube between the converter and lens to allow for the domed shape of that converter. |

| | | Re: sigma 105 macro and teleconverter The Sigma 105mm Macro is not shown on the Sigma compatibility chart as being compatible with this lens, this may be due to the protruding rear element of the Sigma converter.
The POTN forum site publishes a complete list of what lenses are compatible with what converters and your lens is not listed. It does imply that the Kenko Pro 300 does not have protruding elements so may well be compatible.
The Kenko has had some good reviews and will certainly work on a greater number of lenses than the Sigma. I have the Sogma 1.4x but I only use it on Canon lenes and the Sigma 150mm Macro as other users have stated in this thread.
I hope this helps in your quest.

| | | Re: sigma 105 macro and teleconverter Hi,
I do not think you can use a teleconverter with the 105mm. The 150mm and 180mm are both APO lenses and the rear elements are well recessed within the lens body. I've used a 1.4x on my Sigma 180mm with no problem and the AF worked ok as well.
My wife has the 105mm and looking at it, the rear element is almost level with the mount, which makes it impossible to fit either the 1.4x or 2x Sigma teleconverters as the front element on both of them protrudes beyond the mount. Of course other teleconverters may be of a different design.
Regards,
Andy |

| | | Re: sigma 105 macro and teleconverter The Sigma 105 works well with the Kenko 1.4 converter. Yes you need decent light (or flash), but the results are very solid. |

| | | Re: sigma 105 macro and teleconverter I use Nikon, and I can confirm that the Kenko Pro300 2x convertor fits and works well on the Sigma 105EX (non DG). Neither the Nikon or Sigma convertors will fit, which was why I went for thr Kenko.
Doesn't get so much use since going digital do to the crop factor but still usefull when you need to go beyond 1:1, or need more distance.
