Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens and Nikon d60

Hi all,
i am a complete newbie to dslr camera and i was wondering if the Nikon AF-S VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens is compatible with the Nikon d60? Im not quite sure which part refers to the mount fitting?

Yep the lens will work fine.

When looking for a lens for the D40/D60 remember to look out for the AF-S in the name, this means it will auto focus.

AF and AF-D lenses will still work but they will be manual focus only.

Thanks for the help So do i not need to worry about the fitting when it comes to lenses? will all nikon lenses fit on all nikon bodies? Sorry about all the questions, i just dont want to go wrong anywhere.

Most lenses will fit on the camera but only some will work properly.

AF-S & AF-I lenses are fully compatiable with the D60,
AF lenses will work but manual focus only and AI lenses will fit on the camera but are manaual focus only and will only work with manual exposure.

That's one of the many good things about the Nikon system: the F mount has remained unchanged since its introduction in 1959.

Hello. I have a similar question, and it looks like the answer is probably here. It's always worth double-checking though...

I've got a D50, and I'm now finding the cheap Sigma 70-200 lens I got originally to be not-good-enough (will post a new thread on this!).

So, as long as I buy some kind of AF-S Nikon lens, it'll be fine with my D50 because the autofocus is all handled by the lens?

The D50 has a built in focus motor so most of the nikon lenses will work fine, there's no need to get AF-S if you don't want too.
