Sigma 150-500 lens

I can testify to the 150-500. I love mine. If money was no object, i'd be buying a prime 500, but i'm not ready to do a bank job yet

Nice shots Pete, especially the middle one. What camera do you use (a Pentax, presumably ) and did you use auto settings on the camera and lens or manual? I'm struggling to get a decent in-focus shot on my Nikon D60 even with a tripod, the auto-focus appears to work OK but the results are quite honestly, rubbish, even with different shutter speeds etc.

Thanks a lot Robin - well i started out with a Penta k10D, but now i use Canon 450D. Can't change my name now !

I used a tripod, manual focus with confirm, and usually with birds, i use spot focus with centre AF point selected.

The middle shot was 500m @ f8 1/500th ISO 200.

I'd try and do some pseudo-scientific testing on this lens Robin and make a decision if you think you have a faulty one. My first copy had a faulty OS and went back after a couple of days testing, 2nd one exhibited very similar OS problems, but then righted itself after a couple of hours testing, since which time, it's been fine, but Sigma are well known for their dubious Q&A.
