| | | Re: Digital slr? Ashley you will get many people coming on and bestowing the virtues of Nikon against Canon and vise versa, the only way to make up your mind is to go into a photographic shop and handle as many DSLRs that you like and choose the one that you feel happy with .
I myself am happy with Canon I have the 400D and quite happy with that I know that its been superseeded by others but it does the job that I want it to do and I am happy, for the money that you have available you could pick up a ghood starter kit from either Canon /Nikon and add to it but what you have to bear in mind is the availability of lens`s for your make of camera Canon seems to have a larger variety on the market than Nikon ,again you will get others saying rubbish its Nikon all depending on which camp your in.
The choice is entirely yours but choose wisely

| | | Re: Digital slr? Most of the major brands now have excellent quality low range DSLR's, its what feels right to you personally, you'll know when you have found the right one.
Two things I would recommend is that you look at the available choice of lenses before you settle on an individual make, and dont get drawn into the ridiculously endless debate of one make Vs another, if its right for you and produces the quality you require then thats all that matters. |

| | | Re: Digital slr? No competition - Olympus E620.
Live view with articulating screen (for low level macro). (Forget the Nikon D5000, with its weird implementation of live-view)
In body image stabilisation - for stabilisation on all lenses.
The only effective dust reduction system.
Small and compact.
Best kit lenses available, and unrivalled line-up of high quality lenses.
etc. Olympus E-620 Review: 31. Conclusion: Digital Photography Review

| | | Re: Digital slr? I think that for £700 it's lenses you need to be looking more closely at. As has been mentioned, most budget DSLR's will produce similar results. It might well be worth getting a slighter older model second hand in good condition (Canon 400D?) to maximise money available for a lens - you'll probably need £400 for one significantly better than the one on your superzoom.
For that reason Canon or Nikon are probably your best bet - they have the widest lens ranges and good secondhand lenses are more common in nikon and canon fits. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
