Thanks to all for your comments Regards D.C. | since the combo with the TC has a max aperture of f/8 there isn't always going to be enough light hitting the AF sensors for them to function properly. |

Use it on your f4 or f2.8 instead. It will work then.
I asked all the same questions and was given all the same answers..tape the contacts. So I borrowed one and it do NOT work. Will NOT work. UK do not get the light you need. I saved cash for once.
I will buy a Kenko Pro after xmas if the prices drop, to use on my 70-200 f4.
If price stays up I'll keep my cash as I ain't desperate for one. |

Don't worry to much. Yes I do agree, all were made in good faith.
I got stuff here that I bought, then found I only used once as they were not quite what I wanted or did not work as I expected.
They either languish in a box or I sold to someone else.
Now if possible I contact other photogs I know and test out what I'm interersted in. (provided they got it)
Nearly forgot--If you got a Macro Lens that Kenko will work with it. Try it out.
regards

I recently tested the 7D + 400/5.6 + converters in live view AF mode. The 2x tc I was using was a near 20 year old teleplus that will not AF in normal mode with any of my lenses (inc the f2.8's)because it needs re-chipping for digital but it worked fine in live view AF - IQ was surprising good seeing it was 800mm f11.
With a Canon 1.4x tc IQ was superb when stopped down a tad. Live view AF is slow compared to normal phase AF but it is very accurate if you have decent contrast on the subject. |

Even on a grim early morning such as this - course results are awful at the min (and I've only got the neighbours roof tiles to practice on!) but even thro glass and as grim as this its worked quite quickly. It will be useful in situations where there is enough light and the object is stationary but just that bit out of reach - this might just get a shot that would be out of the question otherwise - thanks Roy - wouldn't have thought to try it

Pauline | Thanks Roy for your contribution to this thread, I’m not sure what you mean but I see Pauline (my pal) has posted so I’ll be calling on her expertise yet again to show me what to do.
