| | | Re: Monopod What camera and lens do you use? The main point of concern for a cheap monopod would be the weight of the camera set up.
I had a Jessops monopod which couldn't take the weight of my 20D plus Bigma lens. It was fine with my 150mm, but the Bigma extra weight buckled the release plate. |

| | | Re: Monopod It depends on the weight of your kit, 2-3kg will kill most cheap monopods
I use a Benbo 2-piece which doubles as a walking stick. I must say I do think of a more compact Manfrotto to get lower for flower or macro shots

| | | Re: Monopod There are plenty to choose from. I use the Manfrotto 685B Neotec monopod which is really quick to open/close (one handed operation), but not the cheapest. There are plenty of others - check what they say in the technical spec about weight.
What you will also need is a tilt head. The Manfrotto 234RC is about £26 I think, but I'd say something like it is essential otherwise you end up trying angle the monopod to get the shots and that can get awkward. |

| | | Re: Monopod The Benbo has a tilt head as standard for around £30
For almost 4x the price is the 560/561b probably the ultimate monopod (on my wish list) more suited to the studio perhaps YouTube - Manfrotto 560B MonoPod

| | | Re: Monopod ive decided to go for the manfrotto 234rc tilt head but was wondering what you guys thought the best manfrotto monopod was for around £45 it will eventually need to hold a bigma when I can afford one. Id appreciate any advice as I dont have a clue. |

| | | Re: Monopod The Big Ma weights a fair bit as does the camera body so your choice could be limited by a monopods ability to take the weight
