Where to buy the Canon 500mm lens?

Got a price from kerso this morning - £4500. I don't think I better that price. It included 1 year international warranty.

Under no circumstances buy from that site Best priced Brands ( best priced deals ) , its based in USA although appears to be uk based , many people have complained about it on other forums.
I ordered a Canons lens from them before xmas and never received it and it took several weeks of emails from myself threatening legal action before I got a refund.
There was a long thread on Moneysavingforum & Avforums about the company.

i'd just mention that stu/wab has previously take a lot of flack over people (me in fact) recomending kerso, vis a vis complaints from his competitors.

so its probably worth noting that tho he is very good he isnt the only ebay trader to offer this kind of deal - others include digitalrev and urgalaxy and many more beside.

Also with regard to the "valid uk warranty" this isnt quite so - you get a uk sales receipt which so far canon have honoured as valid - however as it is a grey import from the states and sold to you at a low price the receipt could potentially not be honoured for uk warranty if canon tighten up their checking of serial numbers etc

therefore although i have had nothing but good service from kerso on lower cost items, as you are spending circa £5k I would suggest that it is worth paying the extra couple of hundred quid to buy from a legitimate UK retailer rather than any ebay trader

There seems to be an ever increasing number of internet retailers who pass themselves off as UK based when they are actually based overseas. I used to check for a UK contact address but this is no longer a failsafe as some of them now have one. This does not mean that they are a UK trader and in most cases you will still be liable for VAT, import duties etc. As well as all the other hassle if something goes wrong.

I now check there small print for their returns policy. If there isn't one or if there is and it doesn't mention your rights under the Distance Selling Regs. then treat it as a non-UK trader.
