Hi,
I went to a car boot this morning and picked up what i think is a bargain? Its a Sigma 24mm wide angle lens f2.8 macro for a tenner! it is brand new boxed etc, when i asked how much for it the seller said "well its only a tiny lens and everyone wants big/long lenses nowadays so its your for a tenner) 
Obviously I took their arm off!. They had bought it last year for an holiday and then had an accident so never went and they gave up on slr etc and bought a camcorder.
Can anyone tell me anything about the lens ie is it any good? how much is the new price? and also any tips on using it as i haven't had a wide angle lens before. I says macro on it so is it any good for macro?
Sorry for so many questions but if you don't ask you don't learn! LoL
They also had a very nice sony dvd recorder for £40 but i only had a few quid on me so gave it a miss

That is a very lucky find, I would have done a lottery ticket as well Digital Camera Reviews and News: Digital Photography Review: Forums, Glossary, FAQ should give a review/test results

you'll have to get very close for macro at 24mm

It needs chipping and Sigma don't do this lens due to having no chips left arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhh. I was looking forward to testing it too.
I did have an idea but don't know if it would work? what if i found another Sigma lens that does work but glass/motor is knackered and take the chip out and fit into my 24mm? would it work? probably not but i have seen loads of cheap lenses on Ebay for spares and just thought.....................................?
Oh well suppose i'll stick it on Ebay in the 35mm section LoL

I have a couple of old 24mm lenses, and they are absolutely fantastic for macro, when you use a reverse adaptor, give that a thought before you throw it onto eBay  ... | | |
