I was dragged to Ikea the other day and spotted one of their translucent waste-paper bins for £1.79. I bought one, cut off the bottom, and now have a diffuser/wind tent. Next stage is to paper one side of the inside with kichen foil as a relector. I have tried it with a couple of beetles, normally difficult to light, and the result of one is below. It is good for defining bristles and elytra pits and indentations, normally v. tricky.
The beetle is Anchomenus dorsalis I think, was Agonum dorsale (Carabidae).
I will be delighted to get other 'diffuser/reflector for macro' suggestions in exchange. I saw someone using a Fosters can to diffuse the pop-up, but couldn't work out how it was fixed to the lens.
