| | | Nikon d70s Is anyone on here shooting with a D70s?
i recently picked one up but i'm not happy with the noise in my images, i know it's an older model and not going to be as good as my old D40 but i was expecting better.
It's not so much of a problem on totally unedited pics but as soon as i sharpen, crop etc the noise becomes really noticeable.
I will try and find a pic to show but i think i have deleted them all now.

| | | Re: Nikon d70s I have a d70 , noise not a problem unless shooting high iso. At 200 got good noise free files.Switch off auto iso ,shoot raw files , don't use the picture programs ,just use aperture priority. If you can load a file to look at with exif data may be able to help, remember is only 6mp so hugh crops will be noisy.

| | | Re: Nikon d70s D70 should be on a par with D40 , not sure of the exact differences - could check on some of the enthusiast nikon sites ,just google Ken Rockwell(a bit eccentric) or Thom Hogan. The kit lens with the D70 was very good (18-70) muchbetter than most other kit lenses.

| | | Re: Nikon d70s Thanks Malcolm.
I am shooting raw, iso 200 and in full manual or aperture proirity.
I think i am just being a bit fussy, been going over some images again and they aren't that bad, but no where near as good as my D40. |

| | | Re: Nikon d70s Are your in camera sharpening settings etc switched to normal or neutral? from what you say above -prob are , if so not got any other suggestions ( other than neat image or noise ninja).I found dark areas fairly intollerent of messing around on PS , this has improved on newer sensors.Still use the D70 ,have worn the original battery out tho.

| | | Re: Nikon d70s All in camera processing is turned off.
I find it is the darker areas where i am noticing it.
I have noise ninja but i don't like what it does to the images (they lose all detail and look like paintings) |

| | | Re: Nikon d70s Is there an option to use Dynamic lighting within the menu ?, this really helps with those dark area`s, i have it on my Nikon D80, its also an option in Capture NX.
Also if you post an image that reflects your problem, we can have a look at the exif data, which will help greatly ... |

| | | Re: Nikon d70s I still have a Nikon D70S, which I occasionally use as a backup and I haven't had any particular problems with noise. I always shoot RAW, but do stick to lower ISO settings with it.
