| | | Calling all Fz18/ 28 /30 owners Hi,
I own a Panasonic Fz28 and wondering which macro lens is best for it, DCR 150 or DCR 250. Im after shots where you can see the compound eyes on flys, the hairs on insects and very 'close up' flower shots. Ive heard tht the DCR-250 is more powerful but im not sure if I need this. Also has anyone got any photos taken with either lens, id love to see them.
Also i purchased a tokina 3x teleconverter and the images are covered in 'purple fringing'. Theres not alot of purple fringing at 9x zoom (27x) but its still too much. Ill try and upload a picture later,
Thanks for reading,
Connor

| | | Re: Calling all Fz18/ 28 /30 owners I have the DCR150 and this is on the advice that the 250 is too powerful, allowing only part of the subject to be photographed as it is too close.
I use it with an FZ30 and it works fine.
Have a look at Mattxyz's stuff, particularly earlier on when he made ecellent use of this combo.
Have a look, too, at my shots which will also include some with this combo.
Hope this helps.

Look at my Gallery pictures, page 15, pictures taken on 20 June 2007. All the insect ones were taken with the FZ30/150. These should give you an idea. If you need more, I will try to find some.
I now have a Sigma 150 that I use with my 30D. I also find that the 100-400 is very good for insects that otherwise would be too far away.

Is there any internet shops that sell the DCR 150 in the uk, the only ones i can find on ebay are in USA.
Thanks again,
Connor

| | | Re: Calling all Fz18/ 28 /30 owners I use the 250 lens with my FZ50. I'm happy with it although it took a while to get used to it. You will end up cropping out the edges of the shots but the results are good. If you have a look in my Gallery at the macro shots, most are with the 250 attached.

| | | Re: Calling all Fz18/ 28 /30 owners you'd be able to get very close with the DCR 150, considering the massive zoom on you camera

| | | Re: Calling all Fz18/ 28 /30 owners I used to use both a DCR150 and 250 on an FZ30. If I was only to buy one I would definitely get the 150, the 250 is a fair bit stronger. You can get some great macro shots with the 150. Ideally I would buy both though
Here are a couple of examples from my WAB Gallery, but basically any macro shot taken before Autumn 2006 was taken with the FZ30 and either the DCR150 or 250 (most were taken with the 150):
Here's one taken with the DCR250;
