| | | Camera problem I have a fuji finepix S9600..
The Focus check button seems to have stopped working..
it says pressing this button enlarges the central portion of the screen..Use this to focus the image precisely..
Well pressing the button does nothing any more..
Any ideas what's wrong I got the camera Christmas 08 so its not that old.
Sorry if the thread is in the wrong place.. |

| | | Re: Camera problem Hi Kayleigh,
I have an S9600 too. The focus check only works when the camera is in the S-AF mode, or in MF mode. (It won't work in C-AF mode). (Alter with the little rotary switch on the left hand side of the camera body).
You also need to have the auto focus mode set to CENTER. (Focus check won't work with either MULTI or AREA settings). Note that the AF mode can only be changed, when the camera is in S-AF mode, so if your camera is currently set to either MULTI or AREA, you will need to put it into into S-AF, before trying to change to CENTER. (See page 68 of the manual).
I've attached a link to the on-line version of the manual from Fuji's website in case you haven't got the book version: - http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/media/dCon...9600manual.pdf

In my experience you usually find an option on one of the menus to 'Restore Factory Defaults' or suchlike instead of there being a dedicated button.
Although I've never had a go with your camera so can't offer any proper advice. |

It will reset everything other than date, time, language, & background colour, so you might need to adjust your picture quality setteings etc. afterwards.
If you haven't altready been using it, I'd recommend setting the camera afterwards to jpg.fine for best quality. (pointless paying for pixels and then not using them ), and don't forget to set the ISO rating to 100 or 200 for best quality as well.
The method for default resetting is shown on page 100 of the manual.
Good luck.
