| | | sigma 50-500 where to buy? Hi everyone!
What agreat site. I/m after some advice about camera lenses. I've got my heart set on the sigma 50-500mm lens but i'm not sure where to buy it from. I have a canon 450d.
I've seen them on ebay for about £850 and over £100 on jessops site. would I be better off going to a shop? Where else could I try online an what do you guys think is the cheapest?
Thanks for your help.

| | | Re: sigma 50-500 where to buy? if i were you i'd definitely go to a shop and handle one before you make your mind up. in terms of buying them ebay traders are the cheapest ( we arent suposed to plug specific ones on the boards tho) but their stock is grey import and might be difficult if you need it repaired
after that specialist camera dealers like mifsuds, T4, ffordes, etc are your best bet
jessops are almost certainly more expensive though they might price match.
You could also check out second hand places like camtech though there arent many of this lens arround s/h yet

| | | Re: sigma 50-500 where to buy? Bought mine recently (sony fit) from a private seller on ebay - £750 including x2 converter and UV filter. Hardly used (he sdaid he had it oin the camera to try it then sold it - probably because it was so heavy!!)
I picked his lens because he was near to where I lived so I went to see the item before I paid for it. Might be a good idea to do similar? |

| | | Re: sigma 50-500 where to buy? The price has increased significantly and the average is over £1000 now You can get them a lot cheaper from Hong Kong but the carriage is very expensive and I'm not sure if the warranty would be valid in the U.K.

| | | Re: sigma 50-500 where to buy? Considering that the Sigma 50-500mm could be had brand new and fully guaranteed from Jessops for £579, just after Christmas, I think some suppliers are taking the Micky when they suggest these extortionate, (in some cases more than 100%), price rises are a consequence of the so-called global economy downturn.

| | | Re: sigma 50-500 where to buy? Too true and I bet the majority of their lenses are old stock, pre-global economic meltdown at meltup prices.

| | | Re: sigma 50-500 where to buy? Thanks for the help guys and gals its very much appreciated.
So its generally better to pop into a shop? I live in the midlands, anyone know anywhere around here likely to stock the lens?
I'm kind of new to buying photography equipment so need to get to know the best places on the web and on the high street.
Thanks again for all of your help. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
