| | | Zigview Does anyone have experience of the Zigview? It is a device that attaches to the view finder and gives a live preview on a screen that hinges or even attaches via just a cable.
I have read confilcting reports on various forums - older reports say that the refresh rate is low and the resolution poor but some more recent comments say that it is good (without refering to these problems).
I notice that it is described as the zigview S2 so wonder if this is a new improved version?

(I have a Canon 40D) | Hi Dan
I bought one of the earlier versions, used it on two occasions and its been stuck in a drawer ever since
Not sure how good the new S2 is but I wouldn't be tempted again given the workable sizes of 'live view' screens.

I have a Canon 40D and the live view implementation is not as complete as on other cameras. And the screen resolution is not as high as on some of the Nikons.
But what I really want it for is to use inside a hide when I want to move between the camera pointing high into a tree and pointing much lower down. There is not room to easily move myself around to look through the viewfinder or even to get a good view of the live view screen. It is complicated by the fact that being in my mid 40's I now need varifocals so am less able to peer at odd angles. |

Using it inside the hide might be ok, as incident back lighting and poor focusing were my main obstacles when using to photograph fungi at ground level. A hide should certainly alleviate some of these issues.
There's no easy way, just a compromise in comfort, ease of use, result and expense of course!
Might be a good idea to visit a shop and try it out first.

| | | Re: Zigview I had a zigview (mark 1) but didn't think much of it and ended up selling it. I subsequently bought an Olympus E3 where the swivelling live-view screen is much better - I now wouldn't buy a camera without. Lord knows what prohibited substance Nikon's designer was on when they designed the weird implementation on the 5000!
