Oh have just found another place, it's Simply Electronics at Gedling in Nottingham, have you had any dealings there at all ? Ken | No, sorry. All my purchases have been through the internet. I've never had any real problems getting the goods, although I have had a couple of bad lenses that have been returned. I've never lost out too much buying this way, and in my last purchase, (Canon 400mm F5.6 L) I definitely got a winner.
The 400mm F5.6 L is a very good sharp lens with a very fast auto focus. For birds in flight it's one of the best around. |

| | | Re: Canon 400 and a shop in Nottingham Hi Graham, thanks for the reply....I think I will probably go for the Canon 400 when one comes up at the right price....I've seen a couple now for around the 950 mark.....and now the urgency has been removed because of my getting the Tokina 80-400mm....so I can afford to wait around a bit. Yes, like you I actually buy most of my stuff....from cameras to computer laptops to computer parts to phones or anything really, on the internet because it's so much cheaper....but the Tokina was an absolute must because the sharpness was the best of all the lenses I had tried out in shop, and I'm sure they made a mistake with the price....I looked online and they range from £599 up to £720...the lowest we found was £561.....but all of those were without the filter which is another £40 on its own....so all up around the £600 mark!
You didn't tell me if you knew that Simply Electronics which is in Notts, I wanted to know simply because they have a prime there and I could go over and try it out to see what it's like.....before looking for a used one online....it wouldn't cost me to travel you see, as I have a bus and train pass.....still maybe you don't know of it, or haven't been there. I am also debating the purchase of a new lens and was pointed to this site by a friend of mine. Onestop Digital
The prices on here are very good indeed.
Hope this helps |

| | | Re: Sigma 50 - 500mm Just an update really on OneStop Digital.
I contacted them today and was told that they are not UK stockists and they only offer a 6 month in house warranty.
So, cheap they may be but i think it's better top pay the extra and have a full warranty. |

Ken | Sorry for the delay in replying. I didn't get email notification of your reply and I forgot all about this thread.
Afraid I've never had any dealings with Simply, so I've no idea what they like to deal with.
I hope you get sorted soon. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
