Canon EOS 450D Help

I have a Canon EOS 450D, for about 3 months, up to today no problems today i went to use it,
(ill try to explain with my limited knowladge)

I took a phot and it did not display the picture on the window, but came up with error message 99, saying, switch camera of and on, or remove battery and replace it, i also took memory card out and put that back in, but still the same message for every shot.

I checked the book and it refers to error 1 or 2, which said check lense or memory card respectfully.

totaly baffled, wonder if anyone has had same error

i take it your using the same lens as allways when err 99 came up ?
some old sigma lenses can cause this error

from what i can gather err 99 is a generic error code that could be quite a few things but usually points to comunication error ( as said above ) with the lens or compact flash card but it is not excusive to just those 2 faults

on a 300d i owned a while ago i was getting the same error and it turned out to be the shutter leaves sticking ( a known fault with the 300d ) which basicly binned the camera as it was out of warranty
iv'e not heard of the same thing happening with the 450d though

the camera will still be in warranty as i don't think that model has been out for a year yet i would just send it in for repair and let them worry about it

My 400D had an error message,I cleaned the lens contacts,on both the camera and lens,which touch wood has cured it so far.
