Jim | 20 FPS at 1080p
30 FPS at 720p
and TV and film are generally nearer 30 FPS...
also the camera only records Mono sound however the new battery grip may have a microphone port as the pictures so far do not show a microphone port.
so as HobJob said.. It is a poor mans 5D MarkII
It is vertually useless compared to the 50D, which at the moment is cheaper, and has a higher stills FPS, and probably a better AF system.
I will hang on for a 60D or a 550D unless the 500D will work well with video.

The standard kit lens supplied is also reputed to be pretty dire.

Will | It does not have a microphone port. A silly omission, just like quite a few others I can think of!
I'll certainly be waiting for at least the 60D and I'd only be tempted then if Canon have addressed the poor AF performance. That's the one area that badly needs dealing with, never mind 15 mpixels, video, etc. |

When they transfer cine film to PAL video they do it on a frame for frame basis so a film that runs for 2 hours in the cinema will run for an hour and fifty-five minutes on your DVD player. In the States they convert film to video using a process called 3:2 pulldown which basically manufactures video frames from different parts of the film frames in such a way that the film runs for the same length of time. However it has the drawback that when using the still pause you could be looking at a video frame that is comprised of parts of two different film frames and any movement between the two will be apparent.

| | | Re: HD video + interchangeable lens dSLR If you want a nice HD Camcorder that won't dessimate your bank account I can highly recommend the Canon HG10. I just put a link to a video I took with it in 'Bird of the Day'.
