| | | Robotic Camera Mount Posting this in case it's of interest to any of WAB's photographers.
It's a device called the "Gigapan" robotic camera mount, which holds & controls a digital camera, allowing it to take hundreds of images, and then "stitches" them all together to produce "Gigapixel" photo's.
Apparently one of the official photographers at President Obama's inauguration used one, and the resulting image allows the viewer to zoom in onto the faces of every individual in the hundreds of thousands in the crowd.
Sounds like it might be useful for dedicated landscape photographers etc., although it's only available for compact cameras at present, with a DSLR version in the pipeline.
I hope I'm not contraveneing WAB's rules by posting this, and hasten to add that I've no connection with this company. It just looks to be an interesting gadget.
(For anyone who's interested, details can be found by browsing for gigapan).
Regards
Mike |

| | | Re: Robotic Camera Mount Impressive, although I did spot an error with an Oscars photo someone had put together. However, I could see the benefits as well but would probably await the 100 model. thanks for the link though, it was interesting to read about the robot |
