| | | Re: new sigma 150mm macro lens? Count me in! I use mine on a tripod for fungi and flowers that don't fly away, but for insects I mainly use it handheld. I find that by the time I've adjusted the tripod to the right height, orientation, distance from subject, etc., said subject has long since flown. Even with all the flashguns hanging off the lens I still find it usable as a handheld.

| | | Re: new sigma 150mm macro lens? All my close up shots are with the 150mm and I'd go for that (the 150mm) over the 105mm, I think it's just that little bit more versatile in allowing you to sit back a little from butterflies, dragonflies etc. With the 105mm you're just a little too close and need a lot more patience to get that close. I also use the 150mm hand-held - usually lying on the ground so your elbows help provide support.
Look forward to seeing some of your shots.

| | | Re: new sigma 150mm macro lens? Hi everyone I find it difficult to get sharp shots handheld
I get much more consistent results with the tripod and 150 sigma maybee I've got shakey hands
I dont use a flash tho I always prefer natural light shots and like to keep the ISO as low as possible

Pete | That's where we differ Pete. I almost always use flash when using my 150mm. Diffused flash, with a Lambency diffuser. It's usually the only way I can get the aperture I want. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
