| | | Flash Compatability Hi, posted this in the wrong section first time so I'll try again.
Since picking up 1st a digital compact & then a bridge camera I've hardly touched my old Nikon F70 so I'm thinking of going the whole way & getting myself a DLSR. What I'm wondering is, will the dedicated flash unit (a Cobra AF700 hammerhead) I used to use on my F70 work with a Nikon DSLR or will I risk damaging the electronics?
Anybody any experience/thoughts on my dilema? If the this unit wont work with the Nikon I'm tempted to buy a Sony A300 instead start putting together a new system. |

I would find out for definite before trying the flash, better safe than sorry. I bought a Sony a while ago and have had no regrets at all.

| | | Re: Flash Compatability Hi Kev
I can't answer your flash query but I can tell you my husband and I are very happy with our Sonys - he has a A700 and me a A350.
If I had one issue it would be that there are not enough people with them for advice.
We went with the Sony as my husband had a minolta with lenses and I then had a bridge camera but felt I needed more so thought we could swap lenses but this has not happened and we now have a lot of slightly different lenses.
Had I known this I may have brought a Nikon as there are more 2nd hand lenses around...but overall this is not the cameras fault and we are very happy with our sonys. |

| | | Re: Flash Compatability Hi avid-myrtle, I have had my Sony for a while now and I bought it for the same reason as your husband.
There are plenty of lenses if you know where to look for them, Ffordes do a lot of good second hand and new lenses and the auction site does a few too.
Sigma and Tamron do most of their lenses in Sony fit and I imagine that the supply will only imrove in future.

| | | Re: Flash Compatability Regarding lenses for the Sony, one option I've been considring for a while was picking up a Sony A300 or 350 & a Sigma 150 macro lense, just been checking out latest prices & it looks as though Sigma have dropped the Sony/Minolta mount for both this & the 180 macro, but retained it for the 105 macro.
