| | | EOS 40D Metering Modes I've noticed a few images on here where the exif data shows the metering mode for some images taken with a 40d as 'Pattern'.
I can't find this on my 40D or reference to it in the manual.
My manual shows just 4 metering modes available - Evaluative, Partial, Spot and Centre-weighted average.
So is Pattern metering done in PP or have I missed something?
Thanks

No you have not missed anything. Pattern is just another term for Evaluative metering, the default setting on the 40D, some camera's also use the term Matrix. I don't know why Canon camera's write the info as Pattern and not Evaluative when assigning the information to the file, perhaps its due to the reduced number of characters. If you set the camera to partial metering then 'Partial' will appear in the Exif data.
